I used the performance panniers for one 6 day ride down the coast with camping gear etc. Worked well, no complaints though I havent tried them in the rain. I really liked the built in rain covers which I used just to add to the visibility. Seemed to be plenty rugged.

This Pannier has two strengths- It is cheap, and it comes with rain covers. The mounting system is basically useless, and I cut out the aluminum stays that fold out at the top, because they only got in the way. The bag itself is acceptable. For a cheap bag, if you are handy(to rig some other attatchment system) it is not a bad option.

The strap length are difficult to adjust. There are small pocket on the end of the pannier whose usefulness is questionable. If I remember there was some type of locking mechanism, but it didn't work with the JANDD expedition rack so I sent the locking mechanisms to the recycle bin. I haven't had a problem with the panniers falling off when going over a bump (I have experienced this with other paniers, though). One issue is that the panniers slide forward (again, using the JANDD expedition rack) until my heels hit the panniers. I resolved this by tying a inch-long piece of a failed innner tube on the lower horizontal bracket and then hooking the pannier to this rubber grommet - problem solved.

First set had to be returned, rigid back panel broke where bolts attach. Lower "V" shaped hook made of thin wire that easily bent into "L" shape and would not stay attached; had to replace with home-made hook. Synching strap with "ladder lock" buckle between pannnier and wheel very hard to loosen once it is tight; no leverage. Side pocket with curved "frown" shaped zipper hard to open and close.

Good price, durable, great rain covers which make the bike extra visible. These panniers worked fine for 1000 mi. training and a 3500 mi cross country. The mounting hooks are covered with molded rubber/plastic which is now coming off. Next trip I will modify the attachment fittings to make them better. Only one time did one pannier detach itself from the rack and then it was still held in a safe position until I stopped by the safety interlocking strap running between panniers.
